ROTATOR CUFF TEAR

The rotator cuff is a large tendon comprised of four muscles which combine to form a “cuff” over the upper end of the arm, the head of the humerus. The rotator cuff helps to lift and rotate the arm and to stabilize the ball of the shoulder within the joint.

SHOULDER DISLOCATION

A shoulder dislocates when the humerus separates from the scapula at the glenohumeral joint. The shoulder joint has the greatest range of motion in the body and as a result is a susceptible to dislocation and subluxation (incomplete/partial dislocation).

SLAP LESION

A SLAP lesion, also known as SLAP tear, is an injury to the Glenoid labrum, which is the ring cartilage that surrounds the socket of the shoulder joint. Injuries to this tissue rim surrounding the shoulder socket can occur from acute trauma or repetitive shoulder motion.

ROTATOR CUFF ARTHRITIS

The combination of arthritis and rotator cuff tear is known as arthropathy. It is a severe and complex form of shoulder arthritis in which the shoulder has lost not only the cartilage that normally covers its joint surface but also the tendons of the rotator cuff tear which help position and power the joint.

SHOULDER FRACTURES

Proximal Humerus fractures are the third most common fractures in the elderly population. Fortunately 80% of the fractures are non-displaced or minimally displaced and can be managed non-operatively.

FROZEN SHOULDER

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a chronic painful stiffness of the shoulder joint. The articular shoulder capsule (a sac of ligaments around the joint) swells and stiffens, restricting its mobility.
